Son of a Retired US Navy Submariner, Richard Simpao is proud to be a San Diego native who loves his city and community. He attended University of San Diego High School “Uni” (now Cathedral Catholic High School) and graduated from San Diego State University in Mechanical Engineering. While working as an engineer, he learned about the benefits of home ownership from his father, who in 1968 received his California real estate license.

Richard received his California real estate license in 2007. His father passed away in 2010, and he quickly discovered that his father had a reverse mortgage on the home he and his siblings grew up in. The home was sold, the lender paid off, and the proceeds were divided amongst the kids.

It was at this time Richard realized that the reverse mortgage loan that his father had was a great tool. His father was able to enjoy his golden years, and he did things that he always wanted to do. So, in 2011 Richard went all-in on home loans and reverse mortgages and has since helped hundreds of people live their dreams while they helped him earn his CRMP designation in 2014.

Richard’s experience also includes 10 years of owning Appraisal Center of San Diego, where he performed residential appraisals for lenders and attorneys. He believes this is an experience that all loan officers should have.

In his free time, he likes to enjoy all the landscapes that San Diego has to offer, from surfing the beautiful San Diego coastline to riding dirt bikes in the desert. He also enjoys traveling abroad with his family.

He hopes that the work he does helps people achieve their homeownership dreams so they can get out there and enjoy San Diego and beyond.
